With la rentrée already in full swing, I am sadly facing up to the reality that most of my reading time is once again to be dedicated to uni bibliographies.  That being said, my latest pleasure read is more than justified – anything in French is good practice after all…

A small independent French publisher has released a series called ‘Grands Destins de Femmes’ featuring the stories of many great women such as Gabrielle Chanel, Virginia Woolf and Agatha Christie.  However, there is a bit of twist – they’re told in graphic novel format.  From her difficult childhood in an orphanage to her first collection, the book illustrates the most important events of the fashion goddess Chanel’s life.  This whole series is a great read for anyone looking to have a slightly more light-hearted read rather than an in-depth biography.
